Blind Dinner Date
Every year, the Grand Rapids Lions Club presents Blind Dinner Date to help children and adults living with severe vision loss live independently, confidently, and with dignity. Vitreo-Retinal Associates, Shoreline Vision, and Grand Rapids Ophthalmology are annual sponsors of and participants at the event. All funds raised go toward providing eye care to children and adults through the Grand Rapids Lions Club Vision Clinic at Cherry Health, helping children with special needs through the Eyeglasses Program at Kent Intermediate School District, and assisting individuals with blindness or severe low vision through the Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired.
Playing on the Beer City USA, this casual, interactive evening gives Grand Rapids residents the opportunity to learn about the Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired (ABVI) while enjoying fantastic craft beer, raffle prizes, and interactive exhibits. Vitreo-Retinal Associates, Shoreline Vision, and Grand Rapids Ophthalmology are proud to contribute to Crafting Vision through sponsorships and event participation to help support the transformational work of ABVI.
Drive for Vision Charity Golf Outing

Kendall College of Art and Design Collaboration
In 2017, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology (GRO) partnered with Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) during a semester-long course. KCAD students collaborated directly with GRO optical professionals while designing a branded line of eyewear products. The project leveraged a wide range of technology, from digital modeling to 3D printing, ultimately resulting in the students creating wearable prototypes.
Kids’ Food Basket
Kids’ Food Basket is a grassroots-community solution to childhood hunger. The organization began over a decade ago by serving 125 kids each school day through the Sack Supper program and now serves nearly 7,500 kids each weekday in West Michigan. Every year, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology team members collect food and money as an annual charity project to support the work of Kids’ Food Basket.
