Dan Shoemaker

Dan Shoemaker has more than 20 years of experience in private equity-backed companies. Most recently, Dan served as Chief Financial Officer at Golden State Dermatology. Prior this, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at NuLink, a broadband telecommunications company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Dan led NuLink’s expansion for six years until the company was sold in 2016.

Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer at James Cable, LLC for nearly 15 years during which he also held the positions of Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer. Dan earned his BS in Physics, and minors in Mathematics and Computer Science, from Alma College.

Melissa Dabrowski

Melissa Dabrowski has over a decade of experience in numerous business areas, including: human resources, strategic planning, information technology, forecasting, and financing. Most recently, she was Executive Partner with Behringer & Co. based in Caledonia, Michigan where she was the lead consultant on Career Exploration client engagements. Prior to this, Melissa led the global succession planning and talent acquisition process for Federal-Mogul, Motorparts in Southfield, Michigan. Melissa also served as Global Manager for Dow Corning where she managed talent development and organization development for the company. Melissa received her MS in Administration from Central Michigan University and is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University.

Jenny Fanning

Jenny Fanning has extensive experience offering consulting services within the healthcare industry, specializing in the areas of NextGen-implementation process and technology
optimization. Locally, Jenny worked at Spectrum Health and West Michigan Heart where she was the Director of Information Technology. Jenny also served as President and Chief
Operating Officer of Computer Products and Resources. She is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a NextGen-Certified Professional. Jenny received her MBA from Boston University
and BS from Northwestern University.

Colleen Mulder

Colleen Mulder has over 35 years of experience in ophthalmology, serving as Marketing Director for Grand Rapids Ophthalmology since 1994 and Facility and Construction
Management since 1991, facilitating the de novo growth of 8 locations and 2 ambulatory surgery centers. Previous roles with the company include Director of Diagnostic Services
and Clinical Operations Director. Colleen has played key roles in the development of: Continuous Quality Improvement, Skin Solutions by Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, and
Clinical Training Programs; as well as management of LASIK, Call Center, and Capital Equipment purchasing. Colleen has had the privilege of teaching both nationally and internationally for Joint Commission on Allied Health in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) and Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS).

Colleen received her BBA in Marketing from Davenport University and has a degree in Ophthalmic Technology from Ferris State University. She was an Advisory Board Member
for Michigan College of Optometry and on the Board of Directors for OPS. Colleen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Grand Rapids Lions’ Club.

Shane Rodgers

Shane Rodgers has more than 15 years of accounting and financial management leadership experience.  Most recently, Shane served as Senior Group Controller at Patrick, Industries where he was actively involved in acquisitions and had financial responsibility for a significant number of Patrick’s brands.
Previously, Mr. Rodgers served as Chief Financial Officer for Poly-Wood, LLC; he also served Zimmer Biomet where he had a number of progressing, finance-leadership roles. Mr. Rodgers earned both his Master of Science in Accounting and Bachelor in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Robert Wolford

Bob Wolford is Senior Advisor for Blue Sky Vision, after serving as Executive Director for Grand Rapids Ophthalmology. During his 30 year tenure, Robert also held key leadership roles with several distinguished organizations within the healthcare industry, including: Michigan’s Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)—Ophthalmology Assembly and Midwest Section; Foundation for the Association for the Blind; West Michigan Alliance for Health; and Leading Eye Executives’ Forum. In addition, Robert was honored to receive the prestigious award for Administrator of the Year by Michigan’s MGMA in 2015.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, Robert was Assistant Vice President and Manager of Receivable Finance with Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation; and Assistant Vice President and Director of Personnel and Branch Operations with Muskegon Federal Savings and Loan Association. Robert received his MS in Management from Cardinal Stritch College and is a graduate of Aquinas College (later serving as Chair for its Alumni Association). Robert is a Certified Medical Practice Executive from American College of Medical Practice Executives (CMPE).

Dr. Cowden is fellowship-trained in cornea, external diseases, anterior segment, and refractive surgery. He was involved in the initial FDA clinical trials for LASIK in 1996 and has performed thousands of procedures, including Custom and BLADE-FREE LASIK. Dr. Cowden also specializes in corneal transplant surgery, advanced anterior segment reconstruction as a result of trauma or congenital defects, and small-incision cataract surgery utilizing traditional intraocular lenses, toric implants for astigmatism, and advanced technology LifeStyle Lenses. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine; completed his subspecialty fellowship at University of Minnesota and his ophthalmology residency at University of Wisconsin; and is a graduate of University of Michigan. He has been in private practice since 1997.

Parin Gohel, MD

Dr. Gohel is a fellowship-trained retinal specialist using advanced laser techniques and drug therapies to treat age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, retinal detachment, and macular pathologies. Dr. Gohel received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine; completed his internal medicine internship at Lahey Clinic-Tufts University and his ophthalmology residency at University of Colorado, Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute; he also completed fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery at Associated Retina Consultants and Henry Ford Hospital; and is a graduate of Michigan State University. Dr. Gohel joined Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in 2014.

John N. Oltean, DO

Dr. Oltean is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He specializes in laser vision correction (LASIK), cataract surgery using advanced technology such as the femtosecond laser and advanced technology intraocular lens, as well as cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery. Dr. Oltean received his doctoral degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine; completed his residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center of Oklahoma State University, where he served as Chief Resident; and is a graduate of University of Michigan. Dr. Oltean is an Associate Professor in the departments of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Michigan State University and is a member of numerous local and state medical societies.

Bryan D. Pinciaro

Bryan Pinciaro has 22 years of marketing experience in public and private equity organizations in both B2B and B2C capacities. He currently serves as Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Crane Capital Group Inc. and was previously at Vision Source®, a $2.5B eye care retail company where he was SVP and CMO of 3,500+ franchise locations in the United States. He also has experience at Johnson & Johnson and at BIOMET, a leading global orthopedic and dental manufacturer. Bryan has launched 35 brands in consumer-packaged goods, vision care, dentistry, orthopedics, logistics, supply chain, international freight, and medical devices.

Bryan is a graduate of Colorado State University where he earned a BA in Marketing, Communications, and Advertising. He is a member of The CMO Council and other marketing communities of interest for marketing executives.

Jeff Schechter joined Sterling Partners in 2006 as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer, and in 2013 was elevated to Chief Operating Officer. At Sterling, Jeff has primarily managed “the business of the business”, enabling investment professionals to focus on sourcing investment opportunities, structuring transactions, and recruiting management teams to build great companies. While at Sterling, Jeff was responsible for overseeing the areas of Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, Human Resources, and IT – establishing institutional-class infrastructure to support the firm’s growth. During his tenure, the firm grew its private equity assets under management from approximately $1B to nearly $4B.

Prior to Sterling, Jeff served for eleven years as Chief Financial Officer at Grotech Capital Group and, before that, Ernst & Young. Jeff received his Master of Science in Finance from Loyola University and is a graduate of University of Maryland. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a Certified Financial Planner.

Roger Valine

Roger Valine began his 34-year career at Vision Service Plan (VSP) as a management trainee when the company had $10 million in annual revenue. Under Roger’s leadership, the company grew to nearly $3 billion in revenue, provided vision care insurance to more than 55 million members, and was selected for eight consecutive years as one of Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For”.

Roger has served on the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management’s Dean’s Advisory Council.

Dr. VanderLugt has been an optometrist with Grand Rapids Ophthalmology for over 20 years. In addition, he serves as Grand Rapids Ophthalmology’s Optometric Affairs Liaison. Dr. VanderLugt received his Doctor of Optometry from Michigan College of Optometry and is a graduate of Calvin College. He is the past President of West Michigan Optometric Association as well as an Associate Clinical Professor at Michigan College of Optometry.

Christy Vitulli joined Amedisys in 2016 as Senior Vice President, Payor Relations & Network Innovation. Amedisys is a $1.7B industry-leading provider of home health, hospice, and personal-care services that focuses on empowering individuals and families with home-based health care solutions in 34 states. As a member of the senior leadership team, Christy’s accountabilities include: strategic direction and execution, establishing innovative new partnership models, as well as optimizing payor contracting, services, and analytics.

Under Christy’s leadership, Amedisys has improved its contracting position with private insurance companies and entered into new partnerships that better leverage the value proposition of the post-acute care continuum. Prior to Amedisys, Christy served as Vice President, Client Services and Consulting Solutions at McKesson Health Solutions and, before that, Vice President, Provider Networks at BlueCross Blue Shield of Tennessee and Vice President Network Operations & Provider Solutions at Florida Blue.

Christy received her MBA from Lipscomb University and her undergraduate at Texas A&M University. She is also a Certified Health Insurance Executive through the America’s Health Insurance Plans.
